Kibbutz Dorot was established in the early 1940’s by a group of pioneers that sought to help the Negev thrive and expand the growing settlement along the country's borders.
The Dorot branch, established in 2021 (as a continuation of the Shekaf-Eliav branch founded in 2014), carries forward that same spirit of action and settlement, bringing a pioneering energy to the Western Negev and the Gaza envelope.
The branch is characterized by its deep connection to the local community: students live among host families, volunteer in various sectors of the kibbutz economy, and maintain warm, daily relationships with the residents.
Additionally, the Mechina students operate throughout the Gaza envelope region, with a special emphasis on providing ongoing support to reserve duty families in the kibbutzim and nearby Sderot, thereby strengthening regional solidarity.

30 years old, resides in Kibbutz Dorot, married to Carmel and father to Lian. An armored corps company commander (C.O.) in the reserves and a graduate of the Negev Mechina in Sde Boker. Formerly a counselor at the Nahal Oz branch and managed homes for lone soldiers in the "Habyit Hachi Achai" organization. A long-distance running coach and enthusiast of trekking in Israel and abroad.
22 years old, resident of Hazor'im. A graduate of Mechina Amichai, she served in the IDF as an artillery instructor. "I believe the Mechina is the place that directs students to be the next great commanders and citizens, especially in recent years given the situation in our society. My goal is to awaken in them the willingness to always give of themselves and ask: Where can I begin to make a difference?"
22 years old, resident of Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. A graduate of Mechina Arava-Tzufer, he served in the IDF as a combat soldier and commander in the 101st Battalion of the Paratroopers. Loves playing and creating music. "I love the support system the staff has here. I believe that working in a place where you are truly 'seen' makes you feel a genuine connection to where you are."
21 years old, lives in Beit Shemesh. A graduate of Mechina Yonatan, she served in the IDF as an armored corps instructor. "We all need to engage daily with the questions: Where can I improve? How can I be better? We have an endless journey of character development ahead of us."
